Stormsvlei Riverside Cottages is situated on the banks of the Sonderend river on a working dairy farm, twenty kilometres east of Riviersonderend.
Stormsvlei offers self-catering accommodation for up to 20 persons in 5 different units from a restored artisan quarters (dating back to 1860) to an old post office and school. Meals and catering can be arranged by request. There are also 11 campsites with electrical power points, overlooking the Sonderendriver. Ablutions with hot water and open-air shower.
We strive to keep a balance between comfort and old world tradition. It is our ambition to keep this unique settlement, with its well-preserved structures dating back to the late 1700s, intact.
Stormsvlei is an interesting little hamlet with a rich history and we strive to maintain the tradition of restful country hospitality.
The Sonderendriver is excellent for swimming, fishing, canoeing or picnics on the banks. All the units are surrounded by lots of green grass. Children can walk freely while still being contained in a secure space.
Picnics can be had next to the river or on the rowboat. There is also a church for small weddings.
