Orangekloof Tented Camp
Fall asleep under a myriad stars and awake to the healing sounds of nature. The picturesque and comfortable tented camps at Orange Kloof, situated within Table Mountain National Park near Hout Bay, offers a perfect getaway for families, nature lovers, hikers or mountain bikers.
A mere 20 minutes from Cape Town city centre, the campsite lies nestled within the ancient restricted-access Afromontane forest of Orange Kloof – a piece of paradise that invites you to relax in the tranquillity of this unique natural setting.
The campsite has been designed on a “touch the Earth lightly” philosophy, with fully environmentally-friendly facilities. Careful planning, use of invasive alien timber and innovative layout and design ensures minimum environmental impact.
The turnoff to this camp is just down the road from Constantia Nek going towards Hout Bay.
Cycling in the area
- There is an extensive network of mountain bike trails in Table Mountain National Park and it is possible to cycle from Constantia Nek along these trails via Newlands Forest to the city centre! Mountain Bikers are required to have a level 3 TMNP My Activity Permit to use the trail network and must only use the marked trails.
- No mountain biking is allowed in Orange Kloof as it is a restricted area due to the conservation of the Afromontane Forest. You are allowed to hike here, but you must be accompanied by an accredited TMNP guide when hiking in this area (e.g. from Orange Kloof up Disa Gorge toward Table Mountain.
Accommodation
All camps offer hot water, comfortable beds, open fires, fully equipped self-catering communal kitchens/dining areas and communal bathrooms. Bedding is provided at Slangkop Orangekloof and Smitswinkel tented camps. Each camp accommodates a maximum of 12 people. Additional pax cannot be accommodated due to the tent size. All camps are easily accessible by car and have dedicated parking areas. Please take special note of the check-in and check-out times which are applicable to all Hoerikwaggo camps. These facilities are not universally accessible. The tented camps are hiking accommodation and do not have generators to supply power irrespective of Eskom load shedding.
