Dennehof Karoo Guesthouse
An 1835 Cape Dutch Farmhouse and outbuildings at the edge of the town, infused with great personality. On a somnolet stone stoep dozed a collection of chairs, tables and a reclaimed pew. Table settings sparkled in the sunlight beyond which dessert hills appeared through the feathery pepper trees…then there is the Karoo hospitality. Truly memorable. We have a variety of rooms available from family rooms to honeymoon suites.
Nights will pass star-gazing and sounds identifying, whilst days can be spent on mountain bike riding, browsing or hiking. Swimming in the old big round reservoir is a must…
The Barn House, Prince Albert
What once constituted a simple Karoo ‘kraal’ was carefully developed into a barn-like home referred to as the Barn-house. Tastefully decorated to offer comfort and luxury, this self-catering home will exceed your expectations of true Karoo country living. Situated at the foot of the Swartberg mountain range with breath taking views of endless Karoo planes, this self-catering house offers private accommodation for guests. The lounge area is an ideal resting place, especially during extra cold winter evenings, in front of a large fireplace. The fully equipped kitchen has everything guests will need. A separate living room for those who desire modern life entertainment walks out onto a shaded patio with a bread-making oven.
Two double bedrooms and one twin bed bedroom offer sleeping space for 6 guests complete with two romantic en-suite bathrooms and a guest toilet. Rooms lead out onto private indigenous landscaped gardens.
A secluded natural pool area, with outdoor shower, and complete outdoor dining area with built-in braai overlooks the mountain range and lush green farmlands.
Serviced daily with breakfast optional in the Dennehof gardens.
We offer a variety of cycling tours in the area. A must is the Swartberg Pass which is a daunting and beautiful pass that links up with Oudtshoorn.
Three Passes: starting early in the morning, we drop you off at Meiringspoort where you cycle 17km’s downhill through the poort , then on to Montague Pass where you do an easy 6km’s uphill and 14km’s downhill. Finally, we get to see what you’re made of and tackle the mighty Swartberg Pass which is 1.5km’s uphill and 19km’s downhill. This includes all bicycles, safety gear, water bottles and back-up. Picnic lunches can also be arranged.
We also run a fully supported social ride the PA-2-C which will take you from the Great Karoo acroos the Klein Karoo.
