Brackenhills Private Nature Reserve

Located in the majestic Langeberg mountains between Swellendam and Heidelberg on the Garden Route, lies the hidden treasure of Brackenhills Private Nature Reserve. Its untouched natural forests and indigenous vegetation borders one of Africa’s most precious nature parks and World Heritage site, the Grootvaderbosch Nature Reserve.

Brackenhills is dedicated to the conservation of wildlife and these indigenous forests, and is actively reintroducing and protecting natural wildlife like Cape Leopard, Cape Buffalo, Bontebok and the Mountain Zebra. The reserve is also home to a  variety of smaller animals including the Lynx, Wild Boar, Klipspringer, Porcupine, with over 200 species of birds and many species of butterflies.

Brackenhills is the ultimate getaway destination, whether its a romantic weekend away, or an adventure mountain biking and cross-country trail running weekend, a family holiday, or just to relax in peaceful nature. Wake up to the beautiful chorus of forest birds and the magnificent mountain views; take a walk through indigenous forests and largely unexplored mountains, swim in the refreshing pools in the deep river gorge; take a guided forest tour to the Canyon or to view the wildlife, hone your skills with clay pigeon shooting, have a picnic in the forest, and enjoy good food and wine in front of an open African fire. The reserve falls within the Grootvaderbosch Conservancy, with an extensive network of Mountain Bike Trails to explore!
