KNOW YOUR LANES
On-street cycleways (or bike paths) are protected from vehicular traffic by parked cars or a physical barrier. Off-street cycleways exist along much of the City’s waterfront and along Liesbeek Parkway.
These cycle lanes are painted onto the road, usually next to the parking lane, and are marked with bike symbols. Some are painted green e.g. Bree Street and Albert Rd cycle lanes.
These lanes are shared by cyclists and pedestrians. Shared foot paths are usually paved and marked with signage.
