Van Gaalen

Situated in Skeerpoort, a village at the foot of the majestic Magaliesberg mountains (an hour outside of Johannesburg and Pretoria), Van Gaalen Cheese Farm is home to Skeerpoort Trails with over 100 km of trail available with the starting point at Van Gaalens Restaurant.

Trails have been developed by Erik Schipper, extending over 30 private properties for horse riding, hiking, birding, mountain biking (mainly single track) and trail running. These picturesque trails take you through reeds, bush, open veld and across rivers. Day permits for the Skeerpoort Trails are available at the farm shop. Open from 6h00 in summer in the weekends and 7h00 in winter. Access limited or closed when there are events.

Facilities include a restaurant, farm shop and toilets at the start, picnic spots next to the river and accommodation for overnight visitors.
