Saasveld – George Trails
The Saasveld Route System start and finishes on the Garden Route Dam wall and the bulk of the routes are on MTO Forestry land which brings certain rules and responsibilities with it. Routes consists of jeep tracks, plantation roads and some single tracks. There is water available at the security entrance/boom to the dam and the nearest coffee shop is at the Deli at Geneva Superette. No route markers are displayed so please navigate by downloading the GPX file for the route and uploading it to your GPS device or smart phone to navigate with.
TRAILS
Dam Dash ± 5.5 km ± 150 m Easy
The Dam Dash route is an easy, short looped route. It starts off alongside the Garden Route Dam’s edge before turning into the pine plantations and back.
Pine Time ± 11.0 km ± 320 m Moderate
The Pine Time route is an 11km looped route starting alongside the Garden Route Dam’s edge. It takes you further north and winds deeper through the pine plantation before returning to the dam wall again. The route is 95% jeep track and plantation roads with a small section of fun single track down ‘The snake’.
Root ‘n Roll ± 18.0 km ± 470 m Moderate
Root n Roll is the longest route around the Saaveld plantation. It offers a combination of jeep tracks, plantation roads and some single tracks which some users might find challenging. At the most western side is a short extension to the famous Pepsi Pools. This spot offers a cool swimming hole and small waterfall.
