McGregor Tourism Bicycle Hire & Trails
The tranquil country village of McGregor is the perfect getaway destination to visit at any time of the year. Located in the Langeberg, in the Western Cape (just 2 hours from Cape Town), this historic 19th century village with its quaint thatch whitewashed cottages is renowned for its delicious food and wine, a vibrant community of artists, adventure tourism and mountain biking!
MCGREGOR MTB TRAILS & GRAVEL ROADS
McGregor is a true mountain biking heaven with a variety of routes in the area from flat and easy trails for families to hardcore single tracks and longer gravel rides. Pop into McGregor Tourism to pick up their route map of the 7 popular most mountain biking trails. You can also download it here. Please note that not all the routes have been marked as some are located on private land.
Further a field there is a fantastic network of gravel roads and with low traffic volumes and fascinating scenery. Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve is located just 5 km out of town. Here you will find an easy 8 km trail along footpaths and gravel roads through the reserve – expect to see resident springbok and other mammals.
And even a little further a field, is the beautiful Van Loveren Wine Estate with its 4 exciting and challenging trails ranging from 12km to 35km.
BIKE HIRE
This quiet village and surrounds is best explored by bike. Bring your own bike or rent a bike from the McGregor Tourism office – located in a grand old building on the corner of Church and Voortrekker Roads. Drop us an email at info@tourismmcgregor.co.za to check availability. Mountain Bikes are rented at R40 per hour, R100 for half a day and R200 for a full day.
