Lesotho Sky
What started in 2011 with a handful of passionate mountain bikers, grew into a UCI Class 1 MTB event and is now one of Africa’s most spectacular and toughest stage races. The race attracts riders from all over the world, with the 2016 race hosting people from 11 nations.
This year, we are launching a brand new route that will blow your mind! The 372 km of real mountain trails and 9880m elevation will bring out the best in your bike and make you fall in love with mountain biking all over again.
The Lesotho Sky is a UCI class 1 MTB stage race. It covers more than 390kms over six days. The race is limited to only 100 riders. We keep it intentionally small due to the limited resources of the local communities. We are highly committed to our local Lesotho context. Mountain biking in Lesotho is growing as a sport and we love playing a role in this. Although the race vibe is lighthearted, the race is definitely not for the fainthearted. We do not build little bridges or manicure trails. All the riding is done on real mountain trails made by rural life in Africa and mother nature. This is as close as you will get a real mountain bike race.
