Kologha Forest

Explore the unspoiled beauty of this indigenous forest by bike.

Step into a different world, one unspoiled by man and revel in the natural beauty of the Kologha Forest. This pristine indigenous forest is the second largest natural forest in South Africa after the Knysna Forest.

A choice of three beautiful walks start and end at the sheltered picnic area which is well equipped with braai places, tables and benches, a lappa and safe parking.

Two mountain bike and horse riding trails are provided; one is a challenging 17km circular route along a jeep track passing through a mix of indigenous forest, open grassland and plantation, and the shorter 8km trail which makes its way to Andersons Dam and back again. With marvelous viewpoints, spots to stop and rest, the tranquility and natural beauty of the indigenous forest is guaranteed to rejuvenate the mind, body and soul. Look out for sightings of the Cape parrot and samango monkeys along the way.

The Plantation Office is approximately 7kms from Stutterheim on the R30 and all the trails both start and end at the Kologa Picnic Site.
