Housemartin Guest Lodge
In the small Klein Karoo village of De Rust, in the foothills of the Swartberg Mountains, you’ll find this old charm property. Relax in the beautiful garden and swimming pool with braai facilities.
Housemartin offers 12 double rooms each with their own private veranda leading into the garden. Rooms are tastefully decorated with high quality bedding, electric blankets, panel heaters and air conditioning. Complimentary tea, filter coffee, mineral water, homemade biscuits and sherry. Enjoy a Continental breakfast or scrumptious dinner in the dining room situated in the large manor house built in 1885. All homemade and freshly baked.
As a Bike Friendly Certified venue, Housemartin provides in-room bike storage for overnight guests and a range of bike friendly amenities e.g. bike wash area and Ebike charging (see below) as well as ample safe vehicle parking and parking for guests on multi-day cycle trips.
There are several scenic cycle routes in the area including the magnificent Meiringspoort (located just 2kms away), with a swim under the magical Meiringspoort waterfall a must. For the more adventurous, roll onto the multi-day Karoo Crossing cycle route which passes through the town. Route maps and brochures are available at reception.
Further afield, explore the circle route, over the majestic Swartberg Mountains, tackle one of many dirt road mountain passes or visit Prince Albert, Ostrich farms of Oudtshoorn and the Cango caves.
