GM Cycles first opened its doors in the late 1970’s, and traded under the name of Two Wheel Inn. Jackie and Jeff Minnaar took ownership of the shop on 15 June 1992, and changed the name to Greg Minnaar Racing Cycle Store in 2005 to commemorate their son, Greg Minnaar’s, World Cup series Championship achievement for the second time in his career that year.

Greg Minnaar has maintained his consistency in the World Cup series and is currently the reigning downhill World Champion, a title he has scooped three times in his illustrious career.

Over the years, Jackie and Jeff have maintained a high level of service to the strong and tight-knit cycling community of Pietermaritzburg. In 2013, the store changed its name to Greg Minnaar Cycles and opened a second branch in Townbush Road on the outskirts of the city. In 2014, Greg Minnaar Cycles plan to launch a “boutique” online cycling store to serve the greater South African market with an unparalleled cycling experience.

In 2017, Greg Minnaar Cycles closed their shop in the heart of Pietermaritzburg, the familiar “Boom Street” store, and moved across to make the “Townbush Store” their main home.
