Basotho Cultural Village will transport you back in time and take you on an incredible journey where a chief offers you mqombothi (sorghum beer), his wives offer you the fruits of their labour and a traditional healer offers you insight into African spirituality.
Cycling Golden Gate
Golden Gate offers a range of cycling options, the roads are tarred for most of the way with some good hill climbs. You can cycle the park rather than driving it in a vehicle. Take the Oribi Loop– (4.2 km) for magnificent views of the Drakensberg and stop off at the Vulture Feeding Project. The Blesbok Loop – (6.7 km) has breathtaking scenery. Expect steep climbs but the panoramic views from the Generaal’s Kop viewing point are worth it! Look out for zebra, wildebeest, mountain reedbuck and chacma baboon. If you cycle from Clarens then take the Blesbok and Oribi Loops makes for a total riding distance just shy of 50km.
