Bike Marathon Triathlon (BMT) is a multi-purpose sports store focusing on supplying top class cycling, running and triathlon-related products. The shop is conveniently located on the corner of Dorp and Market Street in the historic town of Stellenbosch and is centrally located to the towns of Paarl, Wellington and Somerset West, making it biking and trail running haven.
BMT is a small-but-mighty bike shop located under the shadow of oak trees that line the historical Dorp Street in Stellenbosch. The name stands for Bike, Marathon, Triathlon and we set ourselves apart from the rest because at BMT we realise that bicycles are more than just about riding – they are a way of life. Young, old, tall, short, thin, not-so-thin, racer, cruiser, whatever, our only incentive is to make you and your bike happy. An accredited TREK and YETI dealership, we offer a wide selection of mountain, road, triathlon, and hybrid bicycles at price levels to suit your pocket. We also house triathlon-specific equipment, accessories, wetsuits and more. To top it off, BMT is located right next door to the neighbourhood favourite GRIND coffee shop and deli so pop in for an beer or a bite – or both – while we fix and clean your ride.
BMT GRIND CAFE´
Stellenbosch has become well-known for its thriving coffee culture and its world-class cycling trails, and now these two passions meet at BMT Grind. Situated on historical Dorp Street, Grind is an extension of the well-known BMT (Bike Marathon Triathlon) store and the bike theme continues into the coffee shop.
BMT grind is our coffee and recuperation stop. We have some amazing tour de france memorabilia in the café and you will always receive a warm smile and friendly service from our amazing local staff David, Taffa, Jacques and Nick. Our amazing managers Liesen and Lianti complete a fantastic team that will serve you great Mastertons coffee and the best breakfast and burger in town!
Some menu items change daily depending on what has been freshly baked and what’s in season. In a world of slick commercialism and mass franchising this wholesome owner-managed business is refreshing. It’s a small space with big heart and great coffee!
BICYCLE TOURS
BMT Tours offers you a wide variety of cycling choices and routes. Our experienced team can take you on a mountain, road or wine tour of your choice. Tours can be structured around your times and dates and distances and terrain can vary depending on rider ability and needs. We also put together training camps for triathlon, mountain and road events and will even organise bike transportation to the event for you. A safety van is available to ensure rider safety on the road at all times.
Some of our most requested trips are the wine tour with the most popular being the Lanzarac, Starc Conde, Bartinney wine bar 3-stop affair. Our most popular mountain bike tours are the phenomenal Jonkershoek nature reserve, Coetzenberg and the ever-playfull Paradyskloof (Eden) and g-Spot. The Stellenbosch Trail Fund ensures that these trails are in pristine condition throughout the year.
