We are thrilled to announce that Pick n Pay has joined our Bike Friendly Business Program – kickstarting their bike friendly campaign with the installation of bike parking facilities at their Head Office in Kenilworth.
Spearheaded by Andre Nel, Pick n Pay’s Sustainable Development Manager, the campaign aims to encourage and assist staff who want to cycle to work. Recognizing the importance of employee health and well being, Pick n Pay Head office already has a gym, lockers and shower facilities onsite, providing bike parking was the next logical step towards supporting employee health and sustainable mobility.
Our team of consultants did an on-site assessment to find the most suitable location for the bike parking. We chose to use the elegant and functional LEA bike rack for this installation. Designed and produced locally by XYZdesigns, these compact, wall-mounted racks provide secure, easy-to-use parking for a range of different bicycle types. Installation was done in a few hours and the racks were already in use before the last one was hung!
Pick n Pay, with its established history of supporting cycling as a sport, is now leading the way in support of sustainable mobility and everyday / utility cycling. This company understands the value of bicycles to their business. Employees who cycle to work are not only healthier, but also happier and more productive, resulting in a more harmonious work environment and a positive impact on the bottom line. With the city becoming increasingly congested and fuel prices soaring, cycling to work also saves money and time while reducing transport related pollution and carbon emissions. Growing a culture of active travel in their organization is one of the ways that Pick n Pay is showing their commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
